Christmas 2011

Brandon and I bought each other a new camera for christmas this year--we finally upgraded to a "real" camera so that we can capture all of the kodak moments when Baylor arrives. We still have to figure out exactly how to use it, but we did get some practice in with the family--and the dogs were given lots of attention this year, but I have a feeling there will be a new focus next year :)

Here are some of our Christmas family photos. We got to spend some time with my parents and Brandon's since they are all in Savannah now!

November 2011

I can't believe November is almost over and Christmas is right around the corner! I'm 19 weeks now and nearly half way through. I've got to get better about updating post and pictures so we can remember this time in our lives--and just maybe one day our little boy will have some interest in reading about our lives while we awaited his arrival.

This has been an eventful month, here are some of the highlights:
  • I had a nice Thanksgiving surprise--I felt the first flutters and kicks over the thanksgiving break. It was very faint, but I knew immediately what it was. I was laying in bed catching up on episodes of Gossip Girl when I first felt a kick--so apparently our baby boy has the same feelings about my taste in TV shows as his dad : )
  • Baby Alderman also completed his first half marathon this month--although I must say I did most of the work! Brandon and I started training in June for the first annual Savannah "Rock & Roll" Marathon--but I found out not long after that I was pregnant, so I decided to just run the half rather than taking on my first full. But, Brandon trained and ran the full 26.2 miles--I'm so proud of him for finishing his first marathon in just 3 hours 59 minutes!

  • And last but definitely not least, we have officially decided on a name for our little boy.....William Baylor Alderman. We had 5 or 6 names on our list, but we kept coming back to Baylor. William is a family name on my mom's side, and a classic name that I have always loved. But we will call him Baylor. It just fits, and it makes us smile when we say it! We wanted something more special and unique--not a name that is too trendy. I love the fact that it's not on any of the "most common names" lists or "trendy names" lists like some of the other names we were considering. It will be interesting to see if that changes over the years.

Nursery in Progress

I love to decorate, and I've been planning my first baby's nursery long before he was even a thought in my mind....so I'm excited to now be able to get started on our little boy's first room! Here are a few pics of nurseries that I really like--I'm in love with the clean neutral colors--they just seem so clean and calm. Not to mention if/when we are blessed with a little girl, I can just switch out the blue accents to pink and use the same big ticket nursery items for baby number 2 :)

I saw this on a friends facebook page...

Love this one--found it on another blog

So--No decorating post is complete without the before and after pics and I think you will agree that after seeing these before pics that I have a big project on my hands! I am afraid that the room I have to work with will never quite live up to these nurseries, but nonetheless, I am still excited about the project and will do my best with what I've got to work with!

We have our landlord to thank for the neon green
walls and periwinkle trim, and the fabulous window treatment below!

I have no idea how to paint the ceiling/walls--keep it all one color,
or seperate the wall from the sloped ceiling. I'm thinking all one
color so it just blends and you don't notice the transition as much.
And that seems like less work too!

I forgot to take the "before" picture before
I started testing out the paint color
(trying to make do with a shade of tan that we
had in the basement & I think it's going to work!)

Here are a few things that I love and some inspiration for what I hope this room will become:

It's a Boy!!

I'm 16 weeks pregnant now and we found out this week that It's a Boy!! We are so excited! The ultrasound was so clear, and we even got a little wave from our baby boy and you could see all of his beautiful little fingers : )

Starting A Blog

So...this is not something I know anything about or have ever considered doing, but I have spent this sunday afternoon looking at blogs of friends and strangers and I was inspired to attempt my first blog. And it seems like an appropriate time to start a blog with a little one on the way. I think it will be a great way to document all of the milestones in Baby Alderman's life and a way for family and friends to keep up with our lives since most of us are spread out in different cities.

As for the name....I can't take credit for it for more reasons than the obvious (for those of you who don't keep up with the Kardashian's it is clearly a rip-off of their reality show name), but I have to give credit to Brandon because as we were driving back to Atlanta and I was coming up with this fabulous idea to create a blog to keep our friends and family up to date on baby/family news I asked his opinion on what it should be called and his immediate response was "keeping up with the Aldermans." I laughed--but decided it is very fitting for the purpose of this blog, so I hope those of you who are interested enjoy keeping up with the soon to be much more exciting (and hectic) life that is to come with the addition of our first baby next April! Just a forewarning for anyone reading this, it will most likely be on the boring side as I attempt to learn how to blog.  I have a good 5 months left with some free time to practice loading pictures and posting updates and hopefully I will have it mastered in time to easily update all of the adventures in the life of baby Alderman!
